Day 15: Future jobs

Day 15: Future jobs

What jobs will there be in the future?

What jobs won’t be there anymore?

There’s a lot of wailing and gnashing of teeth about how there won’t be any jobs for people anymore because robots will be doing them all.

But I say: where’s the bad in that?

Perhaps it means people will have more opportunity to be creative. To use their brains. To enjoy their work.

Perhaps it means we’ll move society away from greedy grasping capitalism and towards something more along the lines of Star Trek.

I don’t know what that world would look like, but I feel like there must be something better out there.

Something more meaningful and egalitarian than a bunch of old white dudes strapping themselves into penis-shaped rockets and blasting into space, leaving behind the mess they’ve helped to make.

I feel like future jobs will involve more art, and more science. More innovations to take care of this planet and everyone on it. More innovations to explore space and learn about the universe for the good of all of us.

And to find aliens, obvs.

And I’m still waiting for my hoverboard and robot housemaid.

What jobs can you see in the future?

Be as silly or as serious as you like.

Set a timer for 5 minutes and write.

See what ideas come out of your brain.

Happy writing!

TTFN,

Vicky
