My signature course, MicroBook Magic, wouldn’t even exist without this brilliant human:
So of course she came along and wrote a couple of books with me. Here’s her story:
Misty is Executive Director, North Durham Chamber of Commerce and CEO of Trifecta Sales Systems. She’s also the author of How to Be a Thick-Skinned Email Marketer and the upcoming How to Be a Thick-Skinned Salesperson.
The problem: Sales was sabotaging her business
Although Misty is a seasoned entrepreneur and leader, she once found sales incredibly difficult — particularly the part where you have to ask for money. Born and raised in England and now based in Canada, she felt a deep stigma around the sales process.
“My inability to ask for money and get the credit card sale was really hurting my revenue.”
She knew she needed to find a way to become an effective salesperson — without morphing into a pushy sales shark.
The book: How to Be a Thick-Skinned Salesperson

Misty joined MicroBook Magic to write a book that breaks down her three-step process for selling ethically and effectively, even if you hate selling.
“It teaches people how to get the money, get the sales, and still feel like you can have a good night’s sleep.”
This wasn’t her first time writing with me — it was her second, and she’s already planning her third.
Why she came back
Misty wears many hats: four kids, two dogs, two cats, two jobs, a business, and a love of yoga and photography. She needed a structured, reliable process that would help her make steady progress on a book, even with a packed schedule.
“The main reason I do it is obviously for the guidance… but mostly it’s for the accountability and the camaraderie.”
What made it work
- Consistency: Weekly calls, Zooms, and office hours to keep the book front of mind
- Accountability: A gentle-but-firm nudge to keep going
- Camaraderie: Writing with others going through the same highs and lows
- Templates + tools: Helped her go from “I have no idea how to do this” to “This flows so much easier now”
“If you’re new to Microbook Magic, use all the tools and all the resources. The templates are key.”
ROI mindset: It’s not about the money — it’s about the reach
Misty doesn’t expect to become a millionaire from her books. That’s not the point.
“Writing a book opens doors. If you’re looking at it as a marketing investment, you’re doing it right.”
Her books serve as both a valuable resource for people who can’t afford her services, and a powerful tool to attract new opportunities.
Why she recommends MicroBook Magic
“Writing a book can feel lonely. Overwhelming. Like ‘I could never do that.’ But Vicky makes everything feel so friendly. So doable.”
Misty says I break down complex tasks into bite-sized, achievable steps — ideal for busy people who need to build momentum without burning out.
“If you’ve got a bit of imposter syndrome? This is the perfect place.”
