Ready for your own “I never thought I could do this” moment?

Ready for your own “I never thought I could do this” moment?

Ouch. ouch. ouch. ouch.

Ready for your own “I never thought I could do this” moment?

This subject line dropped into my inbox today from an old client and I thought YES QUEEN.

When’s the last time you did something you never thought you’d be able to do?

What was it?

In trapeze, there’s a thing called elbow rolls and when you’re learning it, it makes your arms look like they’ve been put through a mangle. It literally looked like I had become a plum. They look super cool, but they’re extremely difficult to learn, not least because they’re so painful.

Elbow rolls are currently my nemesis move because I can’t do them consistently yet. I can do them, though — and I remember the first time I did, training with my two fave training buddies, and we all screamed quite a lot. Not only in pain, but also in joy, because there is no feeling quite like doing a thing you never thought you could do.

The feeling you get watching someone else do it is pure joy, as well.

Like — when I wrote my first book, I was so excited because although I had always wanted to write a book, I never really believed I would or could, until I did. I borrowed that confidence from my husband, my mentors, and my friends.

And when my clients write their first books, the excitement is doubled because I relive my own feelings about writing a book and feel incredible to see them excited about writing theirs.

I currently have two clients who are in the end stages of finishing their books — one had zero words in July and now has 65,000 words and is in the editing stage.

The other has just had her printed proof copy arrive and the joy on her face when she showed it to our group was luminous.

Both of them really wanted to write their books and both of them have that, “Have I really done this?” feeling.

It’s epic.

How about you?

Are you ready for your “I never thought I could do this” moment?
