Terrifying things I have done:
Starting a business after getting fired. Twice. (And letting go of that shame.)
Doing stand up comedy on stage in front of people with eyeballs AND ears. Holy shitballs. (I was funny and now I’m addicted to it.)
Swerving my business and going ALL IN on the thing that makes my heart sing… during a global pandemic.
Saying YES to Joe after I’d already failed at marriage once.
Saying YES to a client who asked if I could ghost-write a book for them, when I had never done that before.
Writing all the books I’ve written since — for clients and for myself — and actually finishing and publishing them.
Putting on red lipstick and a pretty dress and going out in public where there were people with eyeballs, when I felt like a potato. Have you ever seen a potato in red lipstick? They look ridiculous.
Entering a pole dancing competition in the comedy category, dressing up as Charlie Chaplin, and doing an excruciating strip-tease. (I WON.)
I know writing a book is scary.
I’ve done a lot of scary things. Made a lot of terrifying decisions — and they were the best decisions I ever made.
You already know you want a book out there with your name on.
Maybe you’ve already started it!
But when it’s out there with your name on, people might see it, right? They might not love it. They might not love YOU.
IT’S SCARY.
But the fear is GOOD; it means you care and it can spur you onto greatness, and the only time fear is bad if you let it stop you doing something that matters to you.
Let me support you through the fear because I promise you, never doing the thing you desperately want to do is far worse.
Let’s get this book done.
