Day 20: World Storytelling Day

Day 20: World Storytelling Day

Let’s really put the WORLD into World Storytelling Day this year.

There are amazing stories and books from hundreds of years of British and American and European cultures, and many of them are books that I go back to time and time again.

But they’re not the only stories out there. Far from it.

Only, you wouldn’t necessarily know it from looking at the publishing industry’s track record.

I don’t know about you, but I want a full-on, 360-degree, technicolor experience of the world—not just that narrow portion of it deemed marketable by traditional publshing and media.

Gimme stories from all around the world, from all cultures, all backgrounds, all genders, and all points of view, please.

And if you’re a person who wants to tell their story—especially if you’re a person whose story might not fit the mainstream Eurocentric optics—please write it.

Write it because there are people out there who want and need to read it.

Maybe start today?

Set a timer for just 5 minutes and see how far you get. Then maybe carry on.

Happy writing!

TTFN,

Vicky
