Writing isn’t a 🍆measuring exercise you know.
Nobody cares that your book has 4,392 pages, Gerald.
Actually, they do, and they probs won’t read it because that sounds like a CHORE.
Look: whoever told you a nonfiction book has to have 300 pages and 90,000 words was WRONG.
It can be whatever size you want it to be. What matters is your message and your truth and getting the thing done and published.
The only time word count might matter is if you want to go the traditional publishing route.
(When Audible commissioned me to write my audiobook That’s What She Said, they specified a minimum of 50,000 words, which was fine and I am v thankful for the opportunity and it was great fun, but still why?)
Despite searching high and low and behind the sofa, I cannot find a single good reason for sticking to “traditional” word counts.
So yeah — if you’re scared of writing a book because 300 pages sounds scary, that’s reasonable. It feels MASSIVE. And scary.
But you don’t have to do that!
Your book can be mini.
It can be MICRO.
Which is where MicroBook Magic came from! I had a conversation back in 2022 with one of my besties about how nobody seemed to be up for writing a book, and she suggested making it teeny tiny. Making it so easy it actually feels easy.
I created a flexible process designed by and for neurodivergent people (THAT’S ME HI I AM AUDHD) who want to write a book — and it’s also marvellous for neurotypical people too.
I use non-traditional methods to help you find your deep message and turn it into a tiny, deep, thoughtful book that packs a huge punch and doesn’t feel light on content.
You’ll write your book much faster than standard WITHOUT compromising on quality.
No bloated must-reach-the-word-count stress-fest page-count contests here!
And you’ll fall back in love with writing, with your message, and maybe even yourself.
Up for it?
